Real time biological threat monitor for early warning of bio-aerosol threats

The IBAC 2 is a continuously operating monitor that provides early warning of biological aerosol threats. The IBAC 2 facilitates the process of identifying bio-terror agents to allow timely containment, treatment and remediation. Monitors are designed to detect concentrated levels of biological aerosols. Possible agents released in a bio-threat attack can include bacterial spores, bacteria, viruses and toxins.

The IBAC 2 monitors can operate independently or as part of a network configuration to form the 'first tier' of a building air-security system. In addition to providing real time alerts to biological aerosol threats, it can trigger a secondary aerosol sampler for subsequent identification. Communication and response can be managed through existing building control systems or independent network.

Rugged design and high sensitivity allow the IBAC 2 to be deployed in severe environments such as HVAC systems and outdoor environments.

The unit is an affordable approach that offers a range of flexibility to protect high valued assets.

The IBAC 2 is a mature sensor with top-of-the-line sensitivity and low total cost of ownership. It is designed to run continuously in the background with minimal interaction. From long-term, fixed installations to short, mission-based tactical applications, the IBAC 2 offers a flexible field-ready solution for bio-aerosol monitoring.

  • Provides near real time warning capability for biological aerosol threats.
  • Government validated with over 3,000,000 hours of run time in relevant environments.
  • Alert can automatically trigger a particulate sampler for subsequent identification.
  • Operates unattended 24/7 without consumables.
  • Complete self-diagnostic system.
  • Battery or line powered with up to 16 hour run time per battery charge.
  • Easily integrated with most building monitoring and control systems.
  • Alert algorithms validated for both indoor and outdoor environments.

Bio-Threat Risk Mitigation

Since most biological agents have an incubation period of a few days to a few weeks, the key to minimizing harmful effects is to identify:

  1. When a release occurs.
  2. What biological material is present.
  3. Where is the location of the exposure.
  4. Who was exposed.

The IBAC 2 helps enable these four steps to occur quickly, thus making timely treatment and threat containment possible.

Detect-to-Warn Sensor Architecture

  • Near real time warning capability.
  • Allows early prophylactic treatment.
  • Minimizes building contamination via triggered HVAC measures.
