Partnering with the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation

Southern Scientific and Care Wise are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation.

Founded by Professor Mark McGurk, the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation is a charity devoted to driving awareness for, and the adoption of, groundbreaking head and neck cancer treatment. The charity's work aims to minimize the magnitude of surgery and limit the resulting aesthetical impacts, on head and neck cancer patients. You can read more about the charity here

Supporting the delivery of Sentinel Node Biopsy technique training for medical professionals

As the UK’s leading manufacturer of gamma probe systems, we support the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation with the delivery of Sentinel Node Biopsy technique training for surgeons and theatre teams across the UK. This is one of the charity’s three objectives; awareness, training and technology.

‘The Technical and Regulatory Aspects of Setting Up a Sentinel Node Biopsy Service in Early Oral Cancer’

The Head & Neck Cancer Foundation's training ‘The Technical and Regulatory Aspects of Setting Up a Sentinel Node Biopsy Service in Early Oral Cancer’ is approved by the Royal College of Surgeons and completion of it awards 5 CPD points.  The charity has been delivering training for over three years and now offer a mix of hybrid online and practical training sessions.

Using the C-Trak Apollo Gamma Probe System for Sentinel Node Biopsies

The new C-Trak Apollo gamma probe is a wired/wireless gamma probe for radio-guided surgery with superior directionality and complete flexibility.

Last week our product specialist Lucy Farmer attended an SNB training day with the C-Trak Apollo (pictured above) which was used throughout the session for practical training. Medical professionals were able to use the new C-Trak Apollo to act out locating a sentinel node in a sentinel node biopsy.

Building awareness of head and neck cancers

We are pleased to be supporting the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation's mission to build awareness and provide training to a new wave of UK surgeons, and we are looking forward to upcoming training sessions.

Please visit the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation's website here to read more about the work they are doing.
