How can I detect all radiation types with only one instrument?
19th August 2026
Building on the proven success of the CSPevo AB-100 for detecting alpha and beta emitting radioisotopes simultaneously, Mirion has expanded the range of CSPevo probes in response to a demand for detecting different radionuclides in specific contexts.
Compatible with Mirion's RDS-32 survey meter, which slots directly into the probe, the expanded collection includes dedicated probes for alphas only, betas only, and combined alpha, beta and gamma detection. This gives users greater choice when monitoring and measuring contamination in environments where reliable radiation protection is essential.
A-100: Alpha detection with minimal gamma influence
The new A-100 is designed specifically for detecting alpha emitters, with near-zero gamma influence on alpha measurements. This makes it particularly well suited to applications where accurate alpha contamination measurements are critical, including nuclear power plants and fuel cycle contamination checks.
B-100: Flexible beta detection
The B-100 provides dedicated beta detection and is available in two models to suit different applications.
- B-100/A is optimized for detecting low-energy beta emitters such as ¹⁴C.
- B-100/B is designed for applications requiring alpha discrimination.
ABG-100: Alpha, beta and gamma detection
Combining three detection capabilities in a single probe, the ABG-100 detects alpha, beta and gamma radiation, making it a versatile option for environments where multiple radiation types may need to be identified. Its thicker scintillator provides increased sensitivity to gamma radiation, making it particularly suitable for hospitals, emergency services and customs.
What is LightLink technology?
All CSPevo probes use LightLink, a robust solid-state technology designed to improve light collection while reducing the risk of damage associated with conventional detector designs. It combines modern plastic scintillators, Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) and advanced readout electronics.
This results in improved light collection efficiency and no light decay for highly accurate and consistent radiation detection. By eliminating high-voltage components and requiring less power, LightLink improves robustness and lengthens operational lifespan.
